Philosophical Thought of the Day

I do not know anyone who has gotten to the top without hard work. That is the recipe. It will not always get you to the top, but it will get you pretty near.

- Margaret Thatcher

I have learned in life that most people will tell you no. But the key is to find out in your heart and mind how to say yes. I have been criticized far more then I have ever been praised. When you are starting out there are three types of people: The early critics who laugh at your work, friends that don't really no what to say, and a few people who quietly like your work but are afraid to say anything publicly. What everyone is waiting for, including myself, is that moment of validation or rejection. Where a respected outside authority either completely loves your work, or they hate it. But the one thing even worse then that, is when you hear nothing.

Even if people don't like your work opinions are still being generated one way or the other. At least you know that someone is listening to what you are saying. Either way you will be motivated to sway your naysayers, or give your fans more of what they want. The key to success in life is to work through the silence. Hard work is rarely recognized publicly in any profession. But sometimes that little extra effort; all that hard work; the blood sweat and tears does get recognized. And when this moment happens there is nothing sweeter. I know nothing in life is certain, but the one thing I do know is that if you don't try then your dreams will never come true.
