Philosophical Thought of the Day

He Wishes for The Cloths of Heaven

Had I the heaven's embroidered cloths,

Enwrought with golden and silver light,

The blue and the dim and the dark cloths

of night and light and the half-light,

I would spread the cloths under your feet:

But I, being poor, have only my dreams;

I have spread my dreams under your feet;

Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

- William Butler Yeats

Sometimes the best advice comes from a stranger. Although I do value the advice of those I love above all others, sometimes the unbiased words of a stranger has a unique freshness to it then of those who love you the most. When a loved ones gives you words of wisdom or advice it is often biased because of their current relationship with you. Whether it be your mother, brother, cousin, or best friend there is a type of agenda behind each piece of advice. And by agenda I don't mean any type of conspiracy theory, I simply mean that they will be more inclined to tell you something to do because they want you to do it a certain way. When a stranger gives advice it is almost always direct, to the point, and agenda free. They will tell you things the way they are, and in a manner that you might find offensive if it came from a loved one. A loved one my be wary of sensitive subjects or topics to avoid, and may beat around bush instead of being direct. I know I am guilty of this on occasion myself. Simply put there is an entire world of knowledge and advice everywhere we go, and we may never know who, where, or what we might just hear next.
