Beth Walton was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer on March 13, 2006. She fought through numerous setbacks over the next 3 1/2 years before losing her battle on June 13, 2009. Cancer took many things away from her, but it could never take her smile, her laugh, her wit, her charm, or her will to fight. On the 1 year anniversary of her passing, her family and friends have rallied together to plan a 5K run/walk in her name through Sligo Creek Park, just a stones through from her home and from Holy Cross Hospital, where she worked as a nurse for more than 40 years. Although we lost Beth, we haven’t lost her spirit, and together we can fight in her name.
Beth loved life and all it had to give her, both good and bad. She was a devoted and loyal wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend. She loved the beach, the water, to dance and to laugh (so hard that she cried sometimes!). The teal ribbon Flip-Flop logo is a tribute to those things she loved and that brought her peace.
Please join us on June 13, 2010 for the
Beth Walton Memorial 5K Run/Walk for Ovarian Cancer. She would not want us to mourn her, but to celebrate her life, a life that she fought so hard for.
A portion of the proceeds from this event will go to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF), an organization committed to finding an early detection test for Ovarian Cancer, and one that is near and dear to the Walton Family.
Ovarian Cancer may touch your life one day; your wife, your mother, your daughter, your sister, your friend. Please help us stop this, and save the women in your life.
