Space Shuttle Discovery's: Final Flight
A slow shooting star in the night. That is the best way I can describe how the Space Shuttle Discovery looked as it began to re-enter Earth's atmosphere during its last flight. My wife and I were lucky enough to spot the space shuttle as it began its descent back to Earth. It appeared in the middle of the night sky almost out of nowhere as it started to leave Earth's shadow. As it moved across the night sky it resembled a slow shooting star. As I scrambled to get my camera ready; it just as quickly began to fade away as it re-entered back into Earth's shadow once again. It was a special moment that went by very quickly and quietly. It was the last chance to catch a glimpse of the space shuttle on its final voyage.
