I don't quite now how to explain it, but it's an amazing feeling the moment when an acquaintance transforms into a friend. I had this experience the other day, and I was truly touched by this mostly because I wasn't expecting it to happen. It was the culmination of many years of working together, and hundreds of conversations that lead up to this moment. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised, and I don't know why I didn't realize it sooner. But in the moment when I needed a friend the most I finally realized that they were there the whole time. God and Life both have a funny way of sending what we need in the most unexpected of places. We just have to be receptive and vigilant or these moments will pass us by.
