Philosophical Thought of the Day
That's Life
Performed by: Frank Sinatra
That’s life
That’s what all the people say
You’re riding high in April, shot down in May
But I know I’m gonna change that tune
When I’m back on top, back on top in June.
I said that’s life
And as funny as it may seem
Some people get their kicks stomping on a dream
But I don’t let, let it get me down
‘Cause this fine old world, it keeps spinnin’ around.
I’ve been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate, a poet, a pawn and a king
I’ve been up and down and over and out and I know one thing
Each time I find myself flay on my face
I pick myself up and get back in the race.

The unfortunate result of success is resentment. This lesson is an unfortunate rite of passage in life. Maybe it’s an elemental flaw in humans? Or maybe it serves some greater purpose? These questions are hard to answer, but what’s more important is how we react. The ironic part of resentment is that it’s really targeted toward the unique qualities that make us who we are. It isn’t the success people want to squash…it’s us. A scary thought, but hey that’s life. So own who you are, find and embrace the skills God has given us, and remember fulfilling our dream’s is the prize after our long journeys.
