Surround Yourself by Inspirational People

I try to think of myself as a nice guy. Very open, great eye contact, listens carefully, can change any situation to something comical / lighten the mood. But from time to time, I find myself in a position, where I am having the most non-intellectually stimulating conversation. It kind of hurts the brain a bit and I find myself wandering off, trying to find ways to entertain myself. Games, ploys, ... okay, I'm getting off subject. I'm sure many people run into this from time to time. It could be the trainer at the gym, your co-worker, a random clerk at the grocery store, or some person at a party.

The point that I am here to make, is how thankful and happy I am that I have people, and that I surround myself with people, who inspire me. Co-workers are very important because you will see them almost every day. But friends are even more important because they will always be the ones to come back and remind you of where you need to go. My friend Robby reminded me of that today, inspiring me to write more. He's looking to finalize a major project of his and encourages me to get started as well. I have another blog that I'm working on, completely unrelated to technology, and I feel it will be a good place to get even more out there, thus aiding in Robby's way of pushing me further.

Because he reminded me of this, I want to remind you as well. Remember to surround yourself with people who provide value in your life, technical and non-technical. It's important to read, to write, and to be inspired. Ask any successful technologist or business person and they will tell you that they became successful because they continued to challenge themselves. Do not be afraid to challenge, to make statements in the public's eyes, to compete with others. Discover yourself, inspire others, and make sure that the people your surround yourself also do the same.
