The Life of Robin Williams Remembered
There are very few words that I can share on the death of Robin Williams that have not already been said. I can honestly say that I've been amazed by the amount of outpouring, love, and support that I have seen for him. It is an amazing testament to not only an incredible career entertaining millions of people around the world, but more importantly, it's the final judgment of Robin Williams character as a man. He was almost inhumanly charismatic and funny, but he was always grounded and relatable just under the surface. He was simply pure genius and real; it was an intoxicating blend of passion few people possess. Robin Williams was beautifully flawed, honest, and caring. These attributes poured through his many characters and straight into your lap. We all knew the good in this man, but tragically too few knew and understood the bad. He famously told Captain Hook as Peter Pan that "To die would be a grand adventure," and later at the end of Hook lovingly told Wendy that "To live would be an awfully big adventure." Tragically it is apparent that in his real life he battled between the two thoughts. He succumbed to his demons and left the world speechless asking why. Robin Williams touched the lives of millions of people over the years through his acting, comedy, and philanthropy. His memory will continue to live on now through his family, the countless memories, and an incredible body of work he left for all of us to enjoy. Rest in peace Mr. Williams, and thank you for showing us how to be extraordinary.
