Philosophical Thought of the Day
It can tell the younger generation the horrifying history of the atomic bombings even after I die. I could have died on either of those two days. Everything that follows is a bonus.
- Tsutomu Yamaguchi
Destiny: something to which a person or thing is destined.
If we spend to much time always asking why, then we will never be able to ask the really important question, How? And not, how did this happen? But rather, how do I move on? I don't believe our fates are mapped out for us, but I do believe that we all have a destiny, and that it is up to us to make the most of it. Our journey can take us to unbelievable highs and unbearable lows. But through it all we have to power to decided how we react. Mr. Yamaguchi is the only survivor of the only two atomic bomb attacks in history. How did he live his life afterwards? A life of compassion and forgiveness.
